| Nathan Pawlings House, Malvern -- Featured on 5th Annual Historic House Tour |
The Trust is a nonprofit 501c3 organization established in 2002 in response to the threat to demolish the historic eighteenth century Jones Log Barn. The Trust's mission is to preserve and protect historic and cultural resources in Tredyffrin Township for the benefit of present and future generations and to educate the public about the preservation and protection of historic and cultural settings.
A major attraction planned for Tredyffrin Township is the Jones Log Barn Living History Center at DuPortail in Chesterbrook. This home served as Quarters for General Louis Lebeque DuPortail, George Washington's chief military engineer during the Valley Forge encampment (1777-8). This location places the Log Barn near another historic barn and at the site of another Revolutionary War General's Quarters. Phase I of the project which includes the stone foundation walls is complete. The Trust's Captial Campaign for the final phase is now underway. When the project is completed, visitors will experience demonstrations, lectures, community events and children's activities.
Many opportunities exist for you to help the Trust reach this goal. All proceeds from our In the Mood event, Fall and Spring Lecture series and annual Historic House Tour go to the rebuilding effort of the historic Jones Log Barn as a living history museum.
The 7th Annual Historic House Tour on Saturday, September 24, 2011 was an enormous success raising over $15,000 toward the final phase of construction of the community's living history museum.
The following individuals and companies support historic preservation in the community and through their generous sponsorships have made the 7th Annual Historic House Tour possible. The Tredyffrin Historic Preservation Trust thanks them! List not complete.
