The Making of the Tredyffrin Documentary
(top picture) Bobby Barajas, owner of Howellville Headquarters is being helped with sound equipment by filmmaker, Jane Pollini. Mr. Barajas, interviewed in his barbershop for the historical documentary, provided wonderful stories about "growing up" in Tredyffrin. Howellville was the earliest village in Tredyffrin Township and at one time boasted of two inns, blacksmith and wheelwright shops, a gristmill and several sawmills.
(bottom picture) Filmmaker, Jane Pollini (left) is consulting with Walt Lapinsky (center) prior to his interview. Mr. Jeff Benson, shown on the right and Mr. Lapinsky are both employees of Unisys Corporation, on Swedesford Road in Malvern, the location of this interview. In 1954, Burroughs Corporation (which later became Unisys Corporation) moved in to Tredyffrin Township and was originally located on Rt. 252 at Central Avenue in Paoli. Mr. Lapinksy was hired as summer help at Burroughs during his college days in the 1960's, and was able to provide information about Burroughs move to Paoli and the early days of the company in Tredyffrin. A very early computer, a 1951 UNIVAC 2, is featured in the background of the photo.
