CAPITAL CAMPAIGN GOAL

The theme of the Tredyffrin Historic Preservation Trust's Capital Campaign to rebuild the historic Jones Log Barn is "Saving Our Barn - Building Our History". We could not have come to this day if you had not been there to support the Trust over the years. Our Campaign goal is to raise $350,000. We plan to achieve that goal with donations and pledges by the end of 2010. This is an ambitious target, but the logs, now in storage, must be moved.

The Jones Log Barn Living History Center is planned to be rebuilt at DuPortail in Chesterbrook. This home served as Quarters for General Louis Lebeque DuPortail, George Washington's chief military engineer during the Valley Forge encampment (1777-8). This location places the Log Barn near another historic barn and at the site of another Revolutionary War General's Quarters.

A new partnership agreement with DuPortail House Inc., the nonprofit entity that manages DuPortail, supports and ensures a bright future for historic preservation in our community. Bringing the Log Barn into this enclave where other historic buildings exist and are protected provides the Trust with greater opportunities to provide educational programs about the special and unique history of our area. This place is destined to become a true center for history for generations to come.

Through activities, special events, and grants, the Trust has already raised more than $50,000 to support this final phase of the project. A financial commitment has been made by every Trust Board member and by each Board member of DuPortail House. As members of the Trust's Capital Campaign Committee, we ask you to join us in supporting this project by making a financial commitment today. Your most generous contribution will be deeply appreciated.
